SNACK ATTACK! What to do???
Yesterday I had usual breakfast, lunch was large roasted chicken breast, butternut squash, pickles, and some veggies..
Dinner was a salad with balsamic vinegar and 2 hard boiled eggs..I wasnt in the mood for anything heavy last night...I was just in the mood to snack! Now, when this happens..its red lights flashing and I know I'm entering danger zones. The worst times are when I open my pantry in the mood of a snack and consume hundreds of calories worth of walnuts, craisins, chocolate chips, pretzels...all just things I grab and munch on while I "decide what to eat"...
I knew I had a choice, I could either give in to this snack attack, or simply GET OUT OF THE HOUSE..it was late enough, the kids were asleep and I hadn't gone on the run I was planning on doing..I was debating where I should go when my sis called and asked if I wanted to walk to starbucks- BINGO! We took a nice hour walk, and by the time I got home the snack craving was gone and I was nice and tired for bed..
Point being- my snack attacks are the worst. They dont end, and once I start I say "Ive already had so much, I'll just keep going"...they usually happen at night of course, the worst possible time for it to happen. Especially that it was a Thursday night, and I ALWAYS eat diferent on the weekends..I needed to just finish off Thursday on a good note..I am very rigid with myself during the week so that on the weekend I can relax, not worry about calories, and enjoy all the different foods I love to cook..
If you know you're having a snack attack, binge attacks, sugar cravings, etc...figure out when it generally is happening, why its happening, and find ways to avoid it..the more you control yourself and practice will power, the stronger you will get and easier it will become..
If you're truly hungry stock up on healthy things you can easily grab such as..
- Apple or banana with almond butter
- Cottage cheese mixed with yogurt, berries and walnuts or pecan nuts
- Hard-boiled eggs with carrot and celery sticks and hummus
- Celery sticks with peanut butter (a classic quick snack)
- A piece of sprouted grain or whole grain toast with nut butter and berries
- Freshly sliced pineapple with a handful of macadamia nuts
- A bowl of blueberries mixed with raw almonds
- Cottage cheese with cinnamon, apple slices and walnuts
I decided to workout with 3 clients today. I pick the first 3 b/c after that I'm drained..I've done a combination of many things including
Runing 30 min
lunging with bicep curl
jump squats
hammer curl
tricep dip
tricep ext
skull crushers
plie' squat with shoulder press
burpees, high knees, sprinting (in between sets for extra cardio)
ab twists
bicycle twists
planks
push up to T stands
chest presses
dumbell rows
The week is over...and the weekend is begining. I've pushed myself this week to eat well, exercise well and now I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend filled with great food, great fun, and the ultimate feeling of my success...there really is no better feeling. Push yourself, start writing goals- and be extremely disciplined M-F..give yourself a break over the weekend to relax..
Have a great weekend!
